Nelson Design Group has been featured before on the Constant Craftsman with the Elm plan and Crest Lodge plan, though at the time I didn’t know who the original architects were since I found the plans on aggregate house plan websites that list plans from all over the webosphere. Now that I’ve bumped into Mr. Nelson’s site, consider me served, because now I know what’s up.

This week’s featured home is the “Holly” plan from their Arts and Crafts Collection. Naturally, since it’s part of the same collection as the Elm, there are some exterior similiarities between the two. But with an extra front dormer and a front porch that’s centered on the home, the Holly carries a look of its own. At 2,200+ square feet, 3 beds and 2.5 baths, this home has plenty of space and features a wet bar in the great room to get your drink on, columns in the dining room entry, french doors that lead to the master bath and a convenient mini-mudroom that they call the kid’s nook just off the garage entry. A quick trip upstairs will lead you to a couple more along with a built-in computer desk in the common area and a large bonus room that would be perfect as a kid’s room or even better – a thumpin’ media room.

There’s just one slight problem. My wife turned this one down because the kitchen doesn’t quite overlook the great room. Admitedly, this is a missing piece of our dream home puzzle, but nonetheless, I found the layout of this home to be pretty accomodating and I think many folks out there would be more than happy with what the Holly plan provides.
