Never Before Seen Pics of My Home!

So our house was officially listed for sale on March 25th and we’ve had about four individual showings since then with an open house coming this weekend. We’re still waiting to hear from two of the couples who passed through and expressed interest in our home so an offer could be on the way. My wife and I have gone through this before so our approach is to stay optimistic but not naive. In the current housing market we’re at somewhat of a disadvantage in terms of price but what we have going for us is that there is no pressure to be moved out by any particular day.

So far the process hasn’t been overly traumatic, but I will keep you folks up-to-speed on how things unfold. I pulled some of the photos from our listing to share with everyone. Clicking on the pics (similar to many other pics on the site) will open up a slightly larger version. Let me know what you think. Oh, and be gentle.

  1. Hi, Jason :) You have a gorgeous home. It has a lot of great character and the woodowork is so lovely! One thought – because your style is very rich and craftsman-y, a few rooms have an overall “dark” appearance. While the darker colors are certainly cozy, some key rooms aren’t quite as fresh looking because of their darker window treatments. I wouldn’t change anything except perhaps those treatments. Adding light colored curtains (unbleached white or cream… true white might look out of place in the rooms with stained trim) in extra long lengths, hung from just under the molding all the way to the floor, would really add a crispness to your home. http://www.thisyounghouse.com has some great tips for how to hang curtains high & wide for an extra striking (and current) look. That site says that curtains, lamps, and paint color *make* a room. They don’t have to be expensive to have big impact. Have you ever looked at IKEA curtains? Anyway, just a thought. Best wishes on selling your home!!!

    • Thanks for your compliment and the tips, Jacci! I agree with you on the window treatments, especially the red ones in the family room with the fireplace. The trim in that room used to be raw wood like what you see in the master bedroom – we painted all of it but never got around to adding color to the walls. So later we wanted to add some bold color without having to paint. In retrospect, I think we would add “fresher” colors with lighter tones. As for selling our home – we’re in the middle of going back and forth with an offer right now. We’ll see how it turns out!

  2. I positively adored your post. It’s very interesting and I shared it with my pals on facebook. Absolutely bookmarking your blog site.
