trexyinyanghr1 $250k Yin Yang Deck at L.A. County Arboretum Julia and Dave Bodell from The Wood Master created a masterpiece for the L.A. County Arboretum. The yin yang deck is not only a beautiful design, it’s also an impressive display of craftsmanship. The upper portion of the deck is made from Trex boards. To get the smooth curves in the composite decking board they built a custom 20-foot long cabinet with powerful heaters on both ends. They heated the boards until they were soft and pliable, then shaped them on the deck foundation. After cooling, they were screwed in place underneath. The lower portion of the deck includes a fountain and fire pit representing yin and yang respectively.

The entire build took about 6 weeks to complete and cost roughly $250,000. That’s a pretty steep pricetag…how about a mini-version of this for about $2,500?

What would that get me? Dollhouse size maybe?

  1. Beautiful, but overpriced. Quarter million for that!
